EHUD ASHERIE - ORGANIC
After three years of silence, Israeli pianist and organist Ehud Asheri two albums released in 2010 : the first was "Modern Life" during the first months of last year, and already running out in 2010 launched the "Organic."
If in "Modern Life" Asheri gave vent to his side piano, in "Organic" let out your vein groove to get behind his Hammond B-3. Both discs share one common feature: the directory is divided almost equally between jazz standars and own songs.
The album starts with "Tonight" from Leonard Bernstein and ends with "Blues for Fats" in homanaje Fats Weller, another keyboardist who was equally comfortable playing the piano to the organ. In the middle are issues Sonny Rollins, Johnny Green and Antonio Carlos Jobim. In terms of their own songs including "Pra Jelena Valse," possibly the most loving theme of the album, "Apostrophe", one of the more funky pieces, the nostalgic "It's possible" and the aforementioned "Blues for Fats."
Among his companions should be noted guitarist Peter Bernstein performing a wonderful job, showing that in the land of soul and groove jazz moves like a breathtaking ease and is able to create melodic lines of great beauty and intensity. In castiza, if Asheri if it neglects a bit Bernstein would have eaten the toast.
This fourth album for signing Ehud Asheri positrons is a disc with very accessible music and that will happen and some time to those who enjoy the unmistakable sound of Hammond B-3 jazz and soul.
